Dear PTO Members and School Community:
As I’m certain you are all aware, the school is going through a number of major changes right now with the engagement of a new Executive Director and with Walter Buttler’s resignation.
During times of transition, it is easy for speculation and rumors to get the best of us. I wanted to reach out to ask for your support through these changes.
Our school is at an important juncture in its history. We have made it through our first four years and we now are beginning the process of Charter Renewal to ensure we are able continue for another five years. We have also recently secured a bond issue and will soon be breaking ground on the new classroom building. To say our plates are full is an understatement, but I want you to rest assured that we have the right people leading the efforts from the teachers, staff, Board, our new Executive Director, Chester Asher, and, of course the PTO.
I had the opportunity to meet and interview Chester Asher and am truly excited to have him on board as our ED to lead us into this next chapter. I am confident you will feel the same way when you meet him and hope you will attend a meet and greet with “Asher” on July 18, 2017.
I encourage you to attend the Governing Board meetings each month to remain current on the work the Board is doing on behalf of our school to ensure success for Charter Renewal and the expansion of the campus. The Board meetings are open to the public and we typically have PTO representation at each meeting. These meetings are a chance to get your questions answered and have your voice be heard in terms of any concerns you may have. Board meeting minutes are also posted on the website if you can’t make it to any of the meetings.
Change can be unsettling and knowing what we have to accomplish over the next year is daunting, but together we will be successful. In an effort to continue to build a sense of community, PTO, the Governing Board, the Foundation Board and the School Administration and Teachers will be working very closely with each other to make sure communication with you is constant and seamless. We are all on the same team and I encourage each of you to continue to roll up your sleeves and to work in partnership with all aspects of the school community to ensure we reach our goals.
In an effort to keep our community connected over the summer, please join us for the following summer events:
- Monday, July 17, 2017 – CHCS Oz Pizza Night at Oz Pizza in Fairburn from 5pm-10pm
- Tuesday July 18, 2017 – PTO Meeting at CHCS (meet new Executive Director, Chester Asher)

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns, and as always, thank you for your continued support of the PTO.
